About

Who is Elle?
I’m a mid-twenties proud English woman (which I suppose is evident in my ghastly English rose complexion and pink cheeks!), who loves food, history and the great outdoors. I studied IT at university, but now work full-time in a non-IT role. I enjoy rambling and visiting new places.

Why visit Britain?
Because Britain is a great country with rich history and some amazing architecture, no town or city are the same.

Each post on my blog should follow the same key (as detailed below)

House Rating
Based on in what I find interesting and visual appealing. I don't have specific architectural style preferences, as each style is unique, nor would I be more attracted to a larger property just because of its grandeur. Each rating is given out of 10.

Grounds / Garden Rating
Again, based on in what I find interesting and visual appealing. I do personally enjoy flowers and intricacies of gardens, but appreciate that a perfectly curated garden requires alot of effort. Higher scores will be awarded for vastness of property, as I personally enjoy a long walk amongst each properties grounds

Toilets
Simply defined, if the toilet symbol contains a green tick there are toilets on property/site, if it contains a red cross there is no toilet access on this property/site.

Cafe
Again, simply defined if the cafe symbol contains a green tick there is a cafe or restaurant on property/site, if it contains a red cross there isn't any this property/site.
National Trust / English Heritage
To help ascertain if the property would be free entry for those who hold National Trust or English Heritage memberships a green tick or red cross should define if the property is owned/managed/cared for by those organisations

Overall
The overall rating is given taking into consideration the rating of the house, the gardens / grounds, walking trails and price of entry, as well as whether the property has cafe and/or a restaurant as well as toilet access.

Walking Difficulty
For ease I have grouped this into 3 categories
Beginner - Flat even surface with no steps or steep sections. Suitable for wheelchair users who have someone to assist them.
Intermediate - Suitable for most ages and fitness levels. Tracks may have short steep hill sections a rough surface and many steps.
Advanced - Tracks may be long, rough and very steep. Directional signage may be limited.
